Query regarding career options in Army for Biology students.
Question : "Sir I want to Join Indian army but not Air Force or Navy. My physical standards are: height-190 cm, chest-80-85cm, weight-70kg, qualification-12 class with Biology and undergoing graduation, age-19years and 3 months. Sir plz suggest something to me I am confused" Biology graduates do have two options at Indian Army for becoming an officer. First and foremost option is to apply for Combined Defence Services Examination conducted by UPSC. Candidates need to qualify in CDSE exam and then they need to be recommended by Services Selection Board in SSB interviews. Once recommended by the board, candidate will be admitted into IMA or OTA according to the course opted and vacancies available.
Second way of becoming an officer in Indian Army is through Non Tech entry. Indian Army releases Non Tech course notifications occasionally to recruit eligible candidates for administrative officer posts. Indian Army will shortlist the candidates for SSB interviews and from the interviews same procedure will follow.
Non Tech entry officers will be commissioned as Short Service Commissioned officers in Indian Army and will be trained at Officers Training Academy.
