Schemes launched by Indian Government under PM Modi's Guidance
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started many fruitful and useful schemes for all Indians. Here are the key initiatives of NDA Government after assuming power in the centre.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna scheme was launched on 28th July 2014 with the objective of connecting all Indians with the financial services. Main aim of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is to get bank accounts opened for each and every person of India. With this aim, the government has instructed all nationalised and private banks to open Jan Dhan accounts to any one who approaches the bank branch. Major advantage of PMJDY is one need not to maintain any balance to keep the account active and also one can have Rupay debit card for online and POS transactions. A whooping 28.23 crore Jan Dhan accounts were opened till now and total Rs. 63,971 crore money is deposited into the accounts till now.
Thus, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a grand success scheme of Indian Government.
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) scheme was launched by the Indian Government on 09th May 2015 with the objective of creating a social security system for poor people of India. With PMJJBY scheme, the Government intends to provide cheaper insurance for every Indian. Under the scheme, individual aged between 18 years to 50 years will get life insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakh for an yearly premium of Rs. 330. Private insurers are charging Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 4,000 for providing the same cover to the Indians currently. A whooping 3.10 crore persons got insurance cover under the PMJJBY scheme.
Atal Pension Yojana
Atal Pension Yojana is also one of the most popular and successful schemes of Indian Government. With the objective of providing financial security in the form of minimum guaranteed pension, the Government has started Atal Pension Yojana scheme. Under Atal Pension Yojana scheme, anyone who wants to get assured amount of pension may join the scheme and start paying the amount as per his choice. Till now, 46.80 lakh Atal Pension Yojana subscribers are there.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a boon for middle class and lower class of Indians who want to have a shelter on their heads. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana aims to provide housing to all by 2022. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Government is giving subsidy to the people whose income is less than 18 lakh rupees per annum and have bought a house for the first time. The scheme is also very helpful for many Indians as it has reduced EMIs of house loan substantially.
Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana was launched by the Indian Government on 22nd January 2015 in Haryana. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana aims to empower girl child by generating awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services for women. This scheme has been already implemented in 161 districts and Haryana has shown tremendous improvement in child sex ratio. The Indian Government has also allocated budget of Rs. 200 crore for Beti Bacho Beti Padhao scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana started by the Indian Government on 22nd January 2015 along with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme. Objective of Pradhan Mantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is to secure future of girl child through small deposit savings scheme. Under Pradhan Mantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana scheme, parents of girl child can open Sukanya Savings accounts in any of the Indian Post Office branches and start saving money for future of their daughter. Higher interest rate is the key benefit for the girl child whose parents deposit money in the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana savings accounts. More than one crore accounts have been open till date making Pradhan Mantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana as one of the most successful key initiatives of Modi Government.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana has launched on 15th July 2015 by the Indian Government with the objective to provide short-term vocational training to develop skills and enhance employability of the youth. Till now more than 8,000 training centers opened all across India. More than 19 lakh Indian youth got trained through Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is also one of the most successful and best of the key initiatives of the Indian Government. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana launched on 1st May 2016 with the aim of providing deposit free 5 crore cooking gas LPG connections to women from below-poverty-line. To achieve this target PM Modi has allocated budget of Rs. 8,000 crore and also urged citizens to give up subsidy on their LPG connections if they can afford it. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana also got tremendous response as lakhs of LPG consumers gave up the subsidy. Eventually, the government has distributed more than 2 crore LPG connections to the BPL families under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme till now. Also the Government has revised its goal from distributing 3 crore connections to 5 crore LPG connections to poor and needy by 2019.
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana was launched on 9th May 2015 along with Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana with the aim of providing affordable insurance scheme for the poor. Under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana one needs to pay annual premium of just Rs. 12 per annum to get accident insurance worth Rs. 2 lakh. Also Rs. 1 lakh will be given to those who get partial disability due to accident. Till now around 10 crore people enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana scheme.
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDGJY)
Indian Government has launched Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana scheme on 25th July 2015 with the aim of electrifying Indian villages. To achieve this, the Government initially allocated budget of Rs. 500 crore and eventually has increased budget allocation to Rs. 4,814 crores. Till now total 13,267 villages are electrified. Also Indian Government has launched GARV II App for real-time monitoring of electrification. So Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana is also one of the key initiatives of Indian Government.
Accessible India Campaign
Accessible India Campaign was launched on 3rd December 2015 by the Indian Government with the aim of providing universal accessibility for Persons with Disabilities. With Accessible India Campaign, Indian Government has sought accessibility audit of all government offices, transport systems and government websites. Government offices will have accessibility to disabled by 2019. Also railway stations and public transport systems will be made more disable friendly by 2018. Government websites will be upgraded for use of Persons with Disabilities. Thus Indian Government is leaving no stone unturned to make India accessible to the Persons with Disabilities.
Digital India
Digital India initiative launched by the Indian Government on 1st July 2015 with the aim of transforming India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. Under Digital India initiative, the Government has provided many benefits to the startup companies and also made Aadhaar more useful than the initial plan. With the initiative Digital India, Indian Government is aiming to lay Optical Fibre Cable all across India to connect each and every village to the world of internet. After demonetization, Digital India took a leap forward by having many Aadhaar based payment apps launched to boost digital economy. Soon India will see tremendous amount of boost in digital economy and usage. Digital India initiative has been applauded by major IT giants from its inception.
Make in India
Make in India initiative is one of the most unique and long term initiatives of India. With Make in India the Indian Government aims to make India a manufacturing hub in the world. With the Make in India initiative, India aims to provide ample employment opportunities in India for its youth and also increasing GDP. There is tremendous growth in Foreign investment after the initiative of Make in India. Indian Government is also providing many subsidies and offers to those companies which are connecting with the Make in India initiative. Apple will soon connect with the Make in India scheme and will start manufacturing iPhones and iPads in Bengaluru in near future. Also Oppo started selling Made in India phones recently. Thus, though the initiative needs giant leap, starting has been so good so far. In future we may see most of the products labeled as Made in India rather than Made in China.
So here were the key initiatives of Indian Government after NDA came into power in the centre. Hope more schemes to empower Indians will be launched by the Indian Government and appreciated by all of us.
