Memorable trip to Golden City, Amritsar

Written by Neha Dubey on May 14, 2016

About to visit Amritsar in India? Check out my trip to the Golden Temple.

All of us love holiday trips with friends and family. Many times when we think of holiday trip, we often find it very hectic to schedule the trip as it requires great amount of energy to discover perfect plan. A perfect plan is the one which ensures hundred percent enjoyment.

Here is my trip to Amritsar with my friends which was a huge success. Idea to visit Amritsar flashed in my mind when I was thinking for going to weekend vacation with friends. My friends too agreed to go to Amritsar instantly.

After we decided the holiday spot, then we had to find out best way to reach Amritsar, hotels which suit to our budget and a schedule to visit the city.

We decided to book flight from New Delhi to Amritsar and after trying lot of travel portals, we struck to Yatra.com and booked  Indigo Airlines for the journey with a discounted price. Then we booked our hotel room also from the Yatra.com.

On Friday evening we reached the IGI airport of New Delhi and we made Indigo Web check-in which is a hassle-free way to check-in at the airport.

We reached the Golden City in the night and we straight away went to the hotel which was very near to the sacred Golden Temple. After relaxing for an hour or so we decided to first visit the Golden Temple i.e., Swarn Mandir. As we entered the holy temple, we were taken aback by the beauty of the temple and our hearts were filled with some kind of joy as well as devotion.

We saw many volunteers called as 'Sevaks' who were dedicated to serve the god by cleaning the floor, serving the food, cleaning the used plates & glasses etc. We were very touched by the dedication of volunteers and their service.

It was amusing to see fearless fish which were roaming near our feet at the Sarovar which surrounded the sacred temple. As we entered the temple, we were thrilled to see the architecture of the temple. We had dinner at the Lungar where everyone was treated alike by the Sevaks.

After having the dinner we sat in the temple premises for one hour and felt the immense peace of mind.

Next day morning we once again went to the Golden temple and the temple looked completely different in the morning time. We visited the temple and then we went to visit the most famous Jalian Walah Bagh. In the Jalian Walah Bagh we felt some strange respect for the soldiers and the martyrs who laid their lives for the sake of our country.

Then we took rest and the last destination was to witness the Parade at the Wagah border in the evening. We reached the Wagah border before the entry and thus secured a good place to sit and watch the Parade. The Parade by the BSF was wonderful to watch. Aggression and perfect coordination of BSF officers was the main attraction of the Wagah border Parade ceremony.

In the night we took our return flight from Amritsar to Delhi. When I reached the home, I was different i.e., my mind was filled with lot of devotion and patriotism.
