Air Force Common Admission Test is the one and only entrance exam held by IAF for recruiting young men and women as officers. AFCAT exam is held two times in a year by Indian Air Force.

AFCAT 2 2014 Eligibility Criteria

In order to apply for AFCAT 2 2014 exam, candidates need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria.
  • Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for AFCAT exam.
  • Minimum educational qualification required is graduation.
  • Candidates should be medically fit.
  • Only Indian citizen are eligible to apply.
There are many courses being offered through AFCAT 2/2014. Here, we have categorises the courses as per the gender of applicant.

AFCAT 2/2014 courses for men

Men can apply for the following courses as per their qualification.
  • FLYING BRANCH
    • No. 16 Short Service Commission (15 SSC) Course
  • TECHNICAL BRANCH
    • No. 87 Aeronautical Engineers (86 AEC) Course (Permanent Commission)
    • No. 59 Short Service Commission (58 SSC) Course
  • GROUND DUTY BRANCHES
    • No. 138 Ground Duty Officers’ (137 GDOC) Course (Permanent Commission)
    • No. 31 Short Service Commission (30 SSC) Course

AFCAT 2/2014 courses for women

Women can apply for the following courses as per their qualification.
  • FLYING BRANCH
    • No. 45 Short Service Commission (15 SSC) Course
  • TECHNICAL BRANCH
    • No. 59 Short Service Commission (58 SSC) Course
  • GROUND DUTY BRANCHES
    • No. 46 Short Service Commission (30 SSC) Course

16 SSC and 46 SSC Flying Branch Eligibility Criteria

16 SSC Flying branch course is for men and 46 SSC course is for women. Age of candidates applying should be between 19 to 23 years as on 01 July 2015. Two years age relaxation in upper age limit is given for candidates who have Commercial Pilot License (CPL). Applicants should have passed graduation with 60 % from recognised university or college. Maths and Physics subjects are must in 10+2 level.   Both male and female candidates applying for AFCAT Flying branch courses should have minimum height of 162.5 Cms with leg length between 99 Cms to 120 Cms.   Vision of applicants should not be worse than 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other eye correctable to 6/9.

87 AEC, 58 SSC and 59 SSC Technical branch eligibility criteria

In order to apply for technical branch of IAF through AFCAT 2/2014, you should fulfill the following criteria.   Age of the applicant should be between 18 to 28 years. Applicants should have passed BE or B Tech with minimum 60%.   For Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) course, you should have studied minimum eight subjects among the below listed subjects.  (L1) Physics / Engineering Physics (L2) Mathematics / Engineering Mathematics (L3) Engineering  Graphics / Engineering Drawing (L4) Electrical Engineering / Electrical Technology (L5) Control  Engineering (L6) Microprocessors (L7) Digital Electronics / Basic Electronics (L8) Computer Networks  (L9) Information Technology (L10) Network Theory Design (L11) Telecommunication Systems (L12)  Electronic Circuit Design (L13) Radar Theory (L14) Switching Theory (L15) Instrumentation (L16)  Microwave Engineering (L17) Antenna and Wave Propagation (L18) Electronic Devices.   For Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) course, one should have studied any eight subjects during the engineering. (M1) Physics / Engineering Physics (M2) Engineering Maths / Mathematics (M3) Engineering Drawing  / Graphics (M4) Automotive Engineering / Plant Engineering / Industrial Engineering  (M5) Engineering Mechanics / Strength of Material (M6) Aerodynamics (M7) Thermodynamics and  Applications / Heat Power Engineering (M8) Heat and Mass Transfer (M9) Theory of Machines  (Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery) (M10) Fluid Mechanics / Turbo Machines (M11) Flight  Mechanics (M12) Machine Drawing / Machine Design (M13) Mechatronics (M14) Material Science /  Metallurgy (M15) Vibrations (M16) Workshop Technology / Manufacturing Technology / Production  Engineering (M17) Hydraulics and Pneumatics (M18) Aircraft Structures.   For male candidates minimum height is 157.5 Cms and for women candidates, minimum height for applying AFCAT 2/2014 exam is 152 Cms.

138 GDOC, 31 SSC and 47 SSC courses eligibility criteria

For graduates, age limit is between 20 to 23 years. Post graduates or LLB five years degree holders age should be between 20 to 25 years. For three years LLB candidates age limit is between 20 to 26 years for applying 138 GDOC, 31 SSC and 47 SSC. For candidates with M Ed., Ph D, CA and ICWA, age should be between 20 to 27 years. Graduation with 60% is necessary for applying to AFCAT 2 2014 exam.   AFCAT 2/2014 online applications will be available on official website of IAF on 7th June 2014.   Last date to apply for AFCAT 2 2014 exam is 03 July 2014.   Also check out
